Deepak Jain has 14 years of Telecom industry experience with semiconductor, infrastructure and software vendors and mobile operators. Based in Dallas, USA, Deepak has been a Senior Director with an industry leading semiconductor and software technology vendor providing products, services and technical consulting to big Tier wireless operators such as AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint-Nextel, Rogers Wireless and others. Deepak has carried out technical and strategic consulting projects for wireless operators in all phases of their operations; from product and new services design to implementation of custom applications and deployment of products, programs and services in the North American, European, Central American and India markets.
In 2006, Deepak was appointed Director of Global Services for Gemalto where he led a group of teams involved in application development, solution design, project management, technical consulting and professional services. From 2004 until 2006, Deepak was the Director of Marketing and Business Development for Axalto North America, where he put in place the market penetration strategy for all telecom products and services of Axalto.
Deepak was the Director of Technology for Schlumberger’s Smart Card division from 2000 to 2004. In his tenure, he not only grew Schlumberger’s wireless business manifolds, he also launched their new professional services and consulting business. He devised and executed a marketing plan to enter and acquire customers in the Caribbean region as part of Schlumberger’s growth strategy. Deepak advised several operators like SBC, AT&T, Telcel (Mexico), Rogers Wireless, Triton PCS on their migration from TDMA to GSM in the early 2000s.
Spending the second half of the nineties in various marketing and technical positions in the vendor community serving wireless operators in India and North America, he advised over 15 operators in India and the USA for subscriber acquisition-related issues linked to the launch of their wireless operations.
His expertise is in 4G, WiMAX, Mobile-TV, Fixed Mobile Convergence, Near Field Communications, Prepaid, Mobile Financial Services, Multimedia, MVNO operations, telemetry and Content. His main strength is in analyzing, devising and implementing marketing and technical programs in these and other new innovation oriented applications of all the wireless technologies out there.
Deepak holds business and engineering degrees from Columbia University and the University of Delhi. Deepak is a registered telecom expert in the SiL (Society of Industry Leaders), a registered advisor in the GLG Telecom council and a member of the TiE network (The Indus Entrepreneur), which focuses on driving innovation in technology through 100+ chapters in all major cities across the world. He speaks fluent English, Hindi and Punjabi.
