Norbert Sagnard

Norbert Sagnard has 20 years of Telecom industry experience with hardware and software equipment vendors and mobile operators. Based in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Norbert has been a marketing management consultant to the ICT industry since 2003, working with Airwide Solutions, Ammeon, Bowne Global Solutions, Business Logic Systems, CoraData, Jinny Software, Mobile Cohesion, The SDP Alliance (Service Delivery Platforms) and Monaco Telecom, for whom he has carried out projects ranging from market research, marketing strategy, market positioning and branding to marketing plan implementation, including preparation for major industry events, such as the 3GSM World Congress, CTIA, IBC and CommunicAsia.

In 2004 he was appointed Consultant to the Telecoms and Electronics industries by Invest NI, the regional economic development agency of Northern Ireland and has performed market research assignments for ArcaTec, ACSNI, Being (Etelligent), Consilium Technologies, Inspecvision, Origin Partners and StreamOn.

Norbert was a Principal Consultant with LogicaCMG Wireless Networks (messaging systems) in Dublin, Ireland from 2001 to 2003, advising operators MTN South Africa, Orange France and Optus Australia on their MMS marketing plans, and before that role, he was in charge of Global Marketing Communication & Strategy from 1998 to 2001.

He spent the nineties in marketing and business development positions across Europe with Motorola, GE Information Services and Mannesmann AG (now Vodafone AG) in their respective telecoms divisions.

Norbert also served on the Executive Board of GSA, the Global mobile Suppliers Association and on the Global Board of MMA, the Mobile Marketing Association from 1998 to 2003. He chaired or made presentations at a dozen telecom conferences in Europe, Taiwan and South Korea. He is a long time Member of the Marketing Institute of Ireland.

On behalf of Mannesmann, he masterminded the establishment of a joint-venture with the Koor and Aurec groups in Israel to bid for a GSM license there, and another joint-venture with the Cegedel Group in Luxemburg, via board level and legal negotiations.

His most valued skills are devising and implementing marketing strategy in the mobile communications sector on a multi-country, multi-lingual basis and developing multi-layer communication (from government ministers to operational staff), as well as the ability to be analytical in market research and budget-conscious in project management.

Norbert holds business and marketing degrees from Lyon University in France, the University of the South West of England, the Muenster Fachhochschule in Germany, and an MBA from the SDA Bocconi in Milan, Italy. He fluently speaks English, French, German and Italian and converses in Spanish.
